What drum unit do I need for my Brother TN760 printer?

If you have one of these Brother printers: DCP-L2550DW, HL-L2350DW, HL-L2370DW, HL-L2370DWXL, HL-L2390DW, HL-L2395DW, MFC-L2710DW, MFC-L2730DW, MFC-L2750DW, MFC-L2750DWXL then you need to use the Brother TN760 toner in your printer. (Yes, sometimes all the letters at the end of your printer model do make a difference when it comes to what toner cartridge to use, so don’t forget about them!)

We recommend the TN760 because it is a high yield cartridge. The Brother TN760 toner cartridge has a page yield 3,000 pages. The Brother TN730 toner cartridge also fits in these Brother printers, but is a standard yield cartridge with a page yield of 1,200.

Brother uses different numbers for their standard yield and high yield toner cartridges, but they both fit in the same printer. The TN760 toner cartridge will print more pages, so is the better deal in the long run. Because toner is a powder, it has a long shelf life. Even if you don’t print a lot, the toner won’t dry up or go bad.

The Brother printers have a separate drum unit. If your printer uses the TN760 toner cartridge, you’ll need the DR730 drum unit.

The DR730 has a page yield of 12,000 pages, which is higher than either standard or high page yield toner cartridges. So you don’t have to change your drum unit every time you change your toner.

Not all printer brands have a separate drum unit, but Brother does.

The standard rule of thumb is to divide your drum unit page yield by your toner cartridge page yield. This will tell you how many times you can change your toner cartridge before you have to change your drum unit. Your toner cartridge holds the toner (and many other things). Your drum unit is responsible for fusing the toner to your page. If you don’t change your drum unit, there are some print issues that can occur.
