When your printer gives you an alert that you’re running low on toner, your first reaction may be to panic call your ETB Account Manager. While we always want to hear from you, you may be able to put off that phone call for a few days. š
If you are still getting good quality prints with no streaks or fading then carry on printing. You will probably still get a few more pages from it. The estimate of how many pages your cartridge will print is just that, an estimate. Most of the time this alert is automatic based on the length of time since you installed the cartridge, or the number of pages the cartridge has printed. Often you will get more prints than it says.
If you are getting streaks on your page, the cartridge has not all of a sudden become defective. There is a waste toner chamber in the cartridge that collects toner that doesn’t get bonded to the page. When the cartridge is near the end of the printing cycle, this waste toner chamber gets full and can overflow onto the page, causing streaks. Even if the stuff you want to print doesn’t look faded, you’ll want to change your toner cartridge when the waste toner chamber is full. It just generates lower quality prints with all those streaks. See this post for more detail about the waste toner chamber.
If you have any questions about this or have other questions about your printer, please get in touch with your ETB Account Manager! We are always happy to help you with your printer consumables! š
